For liberals, the government IS god, so Bashir was probably sincere when he said that Psalm 146 means the government is supposed to provide for us. Praise be to the almighty government-god!

What kind of misguided attitude causes you to accuse us of a
'media blackout" of Ron Paul? I wrote this article because I think the media has been dismissive of him. I have not. Life and Liberty Media has not. PLEASE get a grip. We are not your enemy, so stop with the accusations. If you have legitimate news... or commentary about Ron Paul pass it on to us. I would not describe myself as a "do or die" Paul supporter, but I believe he is right on many things, and will certainly provide information about him or his ideas, whether I agree with them or not. Even when I disagree with him, I believe he is one of a precious few elected officials with integrity.
So stop with the whining and accusations and do or share something positive.......

There's ALREADY a candidate for president with a workable plan to CUT ONE TRILLION DOLLARS of spending in his first year in office.

It saddens me to see that you're participating in the "media blackout" of Ron Paul's candidacy.

Oh, by the way, he just recently won the majority of delegates in Iowa, Minnesota, and Maine. Sounds like he might actually be 'electable' after all, doesn't it ?

A great example of "obscene" is how much TAX is collected on each gallon of gas, compared to the profit of the "greedy oil companies" on that gallon of fuel.

I find it truly fascinating that we could reduce the price of gas by convincing the Saudis to increase their production, but we cannot reduce the price by increasing our own production because we are dealing with a global market that sets prices. The current administration has simultaneously advanced both arguments. Equally fascinating is the consistent failure to look at the trillions of dollars in capital required to produce the "obscene" profits generated by the giant oil companies. If profits make a company subject to villification, obscene profits would seem more attributable to companies like Microsoft and Apple than to oil companies.

And don't forget to remind folks about the multiple donations that were doled out to "Republican" state legislators (including a campaign contribution of $7500.00 that went to the current governor) from a Pro-Obamacare PAC that was funded by the American Hospital association.

I had a conversation with Roger Hunt of Dist. 10 of Sioux Falls who has made it his legislative career to help fight abortion in South Dakota. Last week he voted against a amendment to a bill that would have rid our state of socialized health care if the states lawsuit was successful against Obama Care. Or should I say Dau'Rounds Care since it was quietly brought into our state back in 2007 under Rounds administration and Daugaard was on the committee. I asked him why would he work so hard to get laws passed to benefit the pro-life movement when Obama Care is going to wipe it all away with mandated contraception coverage which includes abortion. Obama Care will go even further as to not giving life saving medical support to babies born under a certain gestational age....in 2009 a mother in the UK watched her helpless baby die with no such help all because he was born 2 DAYS before the cut off age. 22 weeks in the UK, here in the USA we have saved babies born as early as 21 weeks. And in some socialized medicine countries abortion is mandated if the child is found to be disabled. His response was simple: "NOT EVERYTHING IN OBAMA CARE IS BAD."

Thanks for sharing this info with our readers, Gary! Most people just don't yet realize the extent to which the government has their thumb on the banking industry.

This post could be called "As the economy sputters--the impediments to recovery." I had a call from a banker holding one of our ranch mortgages (that would be the same banker referred to in the above comments). He asked if I would do him a favor, to which I immediately agreed. He said "We are a relatively small bank, and I have 8 regulators here." I had a good spontaneous laugh and then quickly apologized, stating that I knew how not funny that really was. The banker just wanted confirmation that we indeed had access to Lakeside Water for the ranch on which they made the loan several years back, which means that the regulators are busy not just blocking new loans but going over existing loans in minute detail. If they see anything they don't like, the bank can be reqired to set aside additional cash reserves or in some cases to call the loan. Fortunately, we not only have access to that water source but have put in miles of our own buried water line that is supplied from two good wells and is totally independent from the community water system. We also had the ranch tax returns finished for this last year and were able to supply them even though they were not requested. The tax returns were especially important so as to not be classified as a "performing nonperforming" loan--a loan on which all payments have been made on time but which is not supported in its entirety by income from the entity securing the loan. That is a very high hurdle for any startup business, let alone a recently purchased ranch!

The massive influx of regulators, thanks in large part to the Dodd-Frank bill (many of the regulations contained in this bill are not yet written but will be enforced when they are), has done wonders for helping keep our economy shut down. Among the many benefits to the consumer is that, if you live in a small town in South Dakota, your local bank will likely no longer make any mortgage loans because it cannot afford to hire the additional people to keep up with the regulations. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mack, the two huge mortgage lenders whose abuse led to the housing collapse, have been exempted from all of the new regulations passed by Congress.
